Homo Faber

Director Stefan Pucher and Dramaturg Robert Lehniger started looking for a contemporary reading of Max Frisch’s novel and ended up with a myth, the core of the Oedipus story. Faber (Robert Hunger-Bühler) ends the play diagnosed with cancer, his hunched body covererd with a live video projection which makes him look like a statue. Barbara Ehnes’ stage is home to four other Faber characters who give vent to their views on women on the set of the old talk show “Frühschoppen”. Denunciation is in the air when the women – Katja Kolm, Julika Jenkins, Olivia Grigolli – deliver words in the first person that Faber has put into their mouths. However, these tactics of Pucher’s transform Faber’s personal downfall into the painful reassessment of his time in history.
