Much Ado About Nothing

Anyone who’s not seen Christiane von Poelnitz and Joachim Meyerhoff as Beatrice and Benedict, doesn’t know what pleasures the theatre is capable of. The freshest and funniest two hours of theatre around. No excesses of meaning, no dramaturgical interventions, no forced interpretations, just theatre entirely at ease with itself, its image and the joy it can create. That’s almost anarchy! You can’t buy a better mood anywhere. And Shakespeare never did more than this with his ado made here about nothing (well, nothing but love, perhaps). But that’s exactly where this shameless production strikes the heart of today: Tell me about love, dear.
