Award Ceremony
Every five years five male members of the Performing Arts section award the Joana Maria Gorvin Prize. It was founded in 1995 by Maximilian B. Bauer in memory of his wife. In Jutta Lampe an actress is honoured who stood on stage with the prize’s eponym and shared her unfettered delight in nuanced and passionate acting.
This year’s jury was made up of Peter Konwitschny, Hans Neuenfels, Thomas Langhoff, Henning Rischbieter and Klaus Völker. They honoured Jutta Lampe as an actress of the highest quality whose work is marked by virtuoso characterization, remarkable adaptability and an astonishing playful energy. Her achievement lies in making performances which are the result of intense and scrupulous preparation appear like improvisations and to play her parts with such lightness that she appears to be presenting snapshots of a life which has just been lived.
A book of photos about Jutta Lampe will be published by the Akademie der Künste to coincide with the prize-giving including Botho Strauß’s laudatio for the Joana Maria Gorvin Prize together with other texts and interviews.
