Screening | Spätschicht x Anta Recke
By Juno Meinecke and Anta Recke
In 2020, filmmaker Juno Meinecke was commissioned by Bayerischer Rundfunk to contribute to the documentary KAMMERSPIELE – JAMMERSPIELE (2021) with a segment on Anta Recke’s work at Matthias Lilienthal’s Münchner Kammerspiele. Meinecke and Recke seized the opportunity to make an artistic mockumentary together, in which they set out to explore new ways of representing racialized bodies and discourses.
Juno Meinecke works as an actor, author, director and musician. She studied literature and film studies at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, before pursuing directing at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin.
Anta Recke is a director, dramaturge, conceptual artist and author. Her productions Mittelreich (2017) and Die Kränkungen der Menschheit (2019) were invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen. In 2021, she directed the world premiere of the stage adaptation of Olivia Wenzel’s debut novel 1000 Serpentinen Angst at the Maxim Gorki Theater. She is also co-founder and co-director of the German Museum for Black Entertainment and Black Music.
