Treffen junger Autorinnen

The Treffen junger Autor*innen is a platform for young writers who use their own words as a form of expression. The participants are selected annually by a jury on the basis of the texts submitted in a nationwide contest.

A total of 13 musical acts — including four bands, two duos and seven solo performers — will come to Berlin from 19 to 24 November as award winners of the 42nd Treffen junge Musikszene. A day later, they will be joined by 21 other talented young people who have been selected by the jury as award winners of the 40th Treffen junger Autor*innen.From 20 to 23 November, the Haus der Berliner Festspiele will host concerts, readings, talks and performances by the prize-winning authors and musicians, open to the public. In addition, a variety of workshops and coaching sessions will provide safe spaces where the young artists can meet, inspire one another and, with professional support from experienced workshop leaders, be encouraged to further develop their personal artistic expression.

The reading at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele and other events from Treffen junger Autor*innen are available in the media library until November 2026. The young authors write about very personal situations and relationships, from issues of social and emotional integration to family histories and everyday observations, to questions about the global situation, politics, the climate, and social or economic injustice.

The second Nahaufnahme Literature is part of the 26th <a href="https://literaturfestival.com/en/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">international Literature Festival Berlin</a>. Four young authors will present their texts at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele and take part in a two-day writing workshop.A close-up offers a glimpse into the literature of the future. Four up-and-coming talents and prize-winners from the Berliner Festspiele’s Young Authors’ Meeting present cross-genre texts in which sound and language take centre stage. The Treffen junger Autor*innen offers young writers a platform on which they can present their texts, thus creating attention for their concerns, topics and points of view. At the same time, the meeting opens up a protected space in which the young artists can meet, inspire each other, and be encouraged to further develop their personal artistic expression through the professional guidance of experienced authors and workshop leaders.

Every year we invite former participants of the Treffen junger Autor*innen for Nahaufnahme. The meeting has been honoring exceptional writing talents between the ages of 11 and 21 for over 30 years. You can experience five participants in Nahaufnahme 2024 on 12 September as part of the international literature festival berlin.

You like to write poems, plays, short stories, slam poetry or experiment with language? Do you want to present your texts to an audience at a reading in Berlin? Would you like to meet other young authors, exchange ideas with professionals, and try out writing workshops?Then apply now for the Treffen junger Autor*innen! The winners will travel to Berlin for a five‑day festival. Another 20 authors will receive a book voucher and a one‑year subscription to a literary magazine.You can submit up to five pages of text or ten poems. It is also possible to submit texts in other languages or multilingual texts. The Treffen junger Autor*innen offers the invited award winners a platform to present their work, drawing attention to the concerns, themes, and perspectives of young writers. At the same time, the meeting provides a protected space where young artists can connect, inspire one another, and, with professional guidance from experienced authors and workshop leaders, be encouraged to further develop their personal artistic expression. All costs for participating in the Young Authors’ Meeting will be covered.orkshop leaders.

The Berliner Festspiele organise a range of festivals and art exhibitions, concerts, dance and theatre performances, readings, lectures, debates and much more throughout the year. These events are presented at a range of locations across Berlin but are concentrated primarily at their own two venues: the Gropius Bau and the Haus der Berliner Festspiele.

In 2026 the Berliner Festspiele celebrate their 75th anniversary. A selection of events programmed throughout the entire year engage take the anniversary as their theme or mark the occasion with works at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele, the Gropius Bau, the Philharmonie, on Berlin’s Ringbahn and at other locations in the city. Outstanding international that liberal societies and their cultural institutions face in a new, multipolar world order. artists such as Marina Abramović, Gabriele St&ouml;tzer and Akira Takayama will set the agenda both thematically and aesthetically. Entitled “Die gro&szlig;e Unordnung” (The Great Disorder), the four-day focus Reflexes &amp; Reflections will also enquire about the challenges.

An Initiative of the Berliner Festspiele 2026/27

As part of their anniversary season, the Berliner Festspiele in partnership with the Japanese-German Center Berlin dedicate a special focus to performative and musical arts from Japan, featuring works by the Kanze Noh Theater, Damien Jalet / Kohei Nawa, Akira Takayama, Dumb Type and the Otomo Yoshihide New Jazz Quintet. Through contributions to the programmes of Musikfest Berlin, the Performing Arts Season, Jazzfest Berlin and MaerzMusik, alongside an original project unfolding across the city, this initiative draws on a long history of exchange and resonance between the Berliner Festspiele and artistic expressions of Japanese culture.
