The forum, which takes place as part of the Treffen junger Autor*innen, is aimed at teachers, writing workshop leaders and those involved in youth work. As well as providing an opportunity for professional exchange, it offers, above all, practical training dedicated to various aspects of creative and literary writing in schools, writing workshops and cultural youth education.
Advance ticket sales will start on 13 May at 14:00.
Friday, 27.11.2026, 10:00–16:00, Haus der Berliner Festspiele (Bornemann-Bar)
How do you come up with (film) ideas? And how do you then develop them?
In this workshop, we’ll work our way from brainstorming through the stages of a screenplay (exposé, treatment, first draft) to the finished ‘shooting script’.
We’ll explore what makes a story (theme, tone, perspective), what drives a story forward (conflict, antagonist, goal), how it’s structured (exposition, confrontation, climax) and how it’s written (style, time, format).
Along the way, we’ll touch on aspects of film language, such as ‘scene & sequence’, ‘story & plot’, and linear versus multi-perspective storytelling.
And we’ll write a very short screenplay in small groups as we go along.
Because nothing teaches screenwriting better than actually writing a screenplay.
The workshop programme is recognised as an official continuing professional development measure, and participants receive a certificate of attendance.
