Hörwelten – An Evening of Radio Drama Literature

Talk and Radio Drama

Behind the shadows of the audience, three people can be seen blurred on stage in front of a red curtain. They are sitting on chairs and holding microphones.

Radio drama is a medium of imagination, voices, sounds and spaces – and at the same time an artistic field that is constantly reinventing itself. In this event, we focus on radio plays as a literary genre: in the first part, we talk to radio play artists about their working methods, aesthetic decisions and the particular challenges and freedoms of the medium. How are radio play scripts created? What role does the script play in interaction with sound, voice and imagination? How important is the direction, and how important is the technology?

In the second part, we open our ears: we listen together to selected excerpts from current radio play productions – as an invitation to listen, reflect and ask further questions.

An event for everyone who loves radio plays, would like to write one or simply wants to prick up their ears.
