Family drama with Gila Almagor, Alon Aboutbul, Yossef Shiloah

A middle-class Israeli family gathers for the traditional Feast of the Passover. The parents have invited all their children. But the absence of a son, killed shortly beforehand in the war, puts the family in a gloomy mood. Tension is caused by the presence of the ex-wife and girlfriend of one of the family members. Despite the intrigues that develop, the family’s determination to resolve its problems ultimately prevails.

Film Programme

Accompanying the exhibition The New Hebrews. A Century of Art in Israel is a programme of films in the Kinosaal of the Martin-Gropius-Bau that has been running since Wednesday, 25 May 2005. Israeli films from the 1960s up to the present (2003) provide a wide-ranging review of the history of Israeli cinema. The programme has been organized with the kind support of the Jerusalem Cinematheque.
