Life is seldom fair - not to Cemil either. The 10 year old boy lives with his mother in a small village outside of Istanbul. Instead of a happy childhood, he has already experienced the harsh realities of life: his step-father is regularly violent towards him and his mother. Until one day Cemil runs away and flees to Istanbul in hope of a better future. Through touching images, the odyssey of the boy and his desperate search for a better life are illustrated. Among the poorest of the poor, the homeless children of urban cities find refuge. The film shows the bitter reality of those without rights, as well as the strong loyalty and solidarity of these youths who have lost their childhood forever. (Press release)
