Fierce warriors, gifted diplomats, human rights pioneers, a symbol for punk hairstyles – the Iroquois, whose original homeland is now the state of New York, stand for inspiration in many areas of European-North American culture. But who are the Iroquois today? What is known of them before and during encounters with colonial armies? Together, we will seek out the less-known traces of the Iroquois. We will hear legends and reflect on old and new concepts in their images, through historical objects as well as present-day artworks. With play, discussion and storytelling, we will search for puzzle pieces in the exhibit and bring our findings into a final, interactive game to reflect on the many facets of this diverse culture.
