In a three-day workshop as part of Carved to Flow: Germination of Otobong Nkanga, insect houses for the area of RATIBOR 14 are planned and built from earth materials.

Registration was possible until 12 October. The workshop is fully booked.

Participants talk to Cornelis Hemmer (Deutschland summt) about biodiversity, causes of its loss and what needs to be considered when building bee houses. Architect Nuno Vasconcelos explains the basics of earthen building techniques.

The workshop RATIBOR 14 is a place in Neukölln with several craft workshops, a beer garden and a wagon park. Land is not considered as property here, but is used collectively. The bee house will help to relocate the bees living in a dilapidated wall on the site.

Besides the practical part, the workshop will reflect on soil and land use, sustainable building and the preservation of biodiversity.
