To mark the transition into the darker season, between the autumnal equinox and winter solstice, Ayumi Paul is giving a violin concert in the atrium of the Gropius Bau. In addition to free improvisations, she is playing the Partita in D minor for solo violin by Johann Sebastian Bach – a work that has been part of the artist’s daily practice for over 20 years.

As a ceremonial gesture, Paul sees the concert as a bow to life. In this spirit, she also invites people to listen and to sing freely with each other in the atrium during the following days – everyone is welcome to join in at any time.
