demo station: POUFF...!

This year’s conference of magic focuses on the phenomenon of disappearance. For years, house keys, childhood memories and tons of glacial ice have melted into thin air. Recently, 12% of Berlin’s cultural budget vanished and Ben has been missing since dinner. Time is of the essence! As magicians, we are experts in the art of disappearance. We will convene to examine this loss – and finally wipe the slate clean.

The show by Selma Lindgren takes place on a demo station by Rirkrit Tiravanija. The stage-like sculpture invites people to “demonstrate” something. Tiravanija plays with the different meanings of the term “demonstration” as both a political protest and a presentation of someone’s talent or hobby. For the duration of the exhibition, the demo station provides a space for daily public performances.
