Picnic | Rirkrit Tiravanija: DAS GLÜCK IST NICHT IMMER LUSTIG
You are warmly invited to a picnic organised by the project SprechendeTeller (Talking plates). Sprechende Teller is a collaborative, narrative cookbook that brings stories to the table. It consists of a group of women from different countries who got to know each other at a German language course in Berlin and shared their favorite recipes, their memories of home and their cultural backgrounds with each other. The picnic is taking place on a demo station by Rirkrit Tiravanija.
The demo station is a stage-like sculpture that invites people to “demonstrate” something. Tiravanija plays with the different meanings of the term “demonstration” as both a political protest and a presentation of someone’s talent or hobby. For the duration of the exhibition, the demo station provides a space for daily public performances.
