Participative Performance | Rirkrit Tiravanija: DAS GLÜCK IST NICHT IMMER LUSTIG
Immerse yourselves in a “silent” karaoke experience: The natural reverberation and acoustic resonance of the Gropius Bau’s atrium create a soundscape of acapella singing, the clicking of ping pong balls, playing children in BAUBAU and the squeaking of other visitor’s shoes. This special karaoke session is open to all ages and experience levels and encourages everyone to take to the stage and share a playful moment of “silence”.
The event takes place on a demo station by Rirkrit Tiravanija. The stage-like sculpture invites people to “demonstrate” something. Tiravanija plays with the different meanings of the term “demonstration” as both a political protest and a presentation of someone’s talent or hobby. For the duration of the exhibition, the demo station provides a space for daily public performances.
During the event, photographs and video recordings may be made in which you may be recognisable. By attending, you consent to these recordings being used to communicate the event or exhibition.
