May Communists Dream?

Drawing on the title of the image gallery of the Palast der Republik, this tour explores a cultural institution, a film, a painting, and a memorial project that were conceived in the socialist part of the city but later abandoned. The traces of these imaginations which were suppressed but never disappeared reveal repressed histories of Berlin and the futures it might once have become.
