GESTALTEN-Reihe
From chronophotography to computer animation - scientific questions and problems push the development of new technologies. At the same time, inversely, new technologies open up unforeseen possibilities for scientific research. While Eadweard Muybridge’s chronophotographs offered new impulses for science in the late 19th century, digital models and animation help to provide today’s scientists with a better understanding of animal and human motion sequences. How do movement patterns need to be animated in order to be perceived as natural? On the basis of what data can movement be animated? In a group discussion, researchers, designers and artists will work with the exhibition visitors to explore these questions.
