On Gropius Bau’s south terrace, Saeed Asadsangabi presents the new work Initiation that brings collective memory and lived presence into motion. The performance is accompanied by Afghan composer Aria Khalil.
Saeed Asadsangabi was born in Iran and lives and works in Berlin. The non-binary dancer and choreographer working at the intersection of ritual, performance and speculative futures. Rooted in Iranian cultural memory and shaped by a queer perspective, their practice explores the body as a site of transformation, resistance and imagination. They create performances that blur the line between the sacred and the experimental, navigating themes of identity and displacement. Asadsangabi is currently studying choreography at HZT Berlin.
Aria Khalil is an Afghan composer and sound artist currently based in Berlin. He first became active in radio at the age of fourteen and later gained major recognition through his live programme 259000, focused on alternative music and street rap. In addition to music, he has worked in cinematography and video production, creating documentaries about landmines and hidden explosives, contributing significantly to public awareness. Currently, Khalil focuses on experimental and electro-fusion music, with a newly completed album marking his latest work.
