On the occasion of Spätschicht x İÇ İÇE Festival, Gropius Bau’s Waiting Room will be temporarily transformed into a comedy club, hosting Jokes, Stand-up Comedy by artist Mila Panić.
Mila Panić has developed a distinctive practice drawing on linguistic and performative elements of stand-up comedy. Influenced by her experience of growing up amid the collapse of socialist Yugoslavia and the racist ethno-nationalist violence and forced displacement of the Bosnian War, dark humor becomes a tool for her. She uses it to address histories and topics that dominant society suppresses, taboos or censors. In doing so, the artist´s work challenges the status quo of discourse and collective memory. Panić´s performances create a space where individual narratives intersect with broader social realities, and past and present political events converge.
Mila Panić was born in Bosnia. Her artistic practice lies at the intersection of visual art and stand-up comedy, bringing together fields that rarely meet: her practice shows that criticality can stay playful and accessible, marked by dark humor, sharp wit, and fearless, ironic commentary. Most recently, her work has been presented at 13th Berlin Biennial for Contemporary Art, Maxim Gorki Theater, Berlin, ngbk, Berlin, and 4th Autostrada Biennial, Kosovo.
